How did we get to be so awesome? Here’s our story.
It all started with a rented chainsaw and a log splitter. That’s all our founder Jack Foss had when he started the business at the age of 21. Still, he liked working outside and enjoying the fruits of his labor, so he kept at it.
It didn’t take Jack long to realize what his newfound industry was missing: quality. People wanted to be able to enjoy their fires, not struggle to keep them burning. Similarly, local restaurant owners wanted the wood they cook on to enhance their food, not just heat it.
So, Jack worked to perfect the formula for enjoyable firewood and mulch. Three decades later, there is no rival for the quality of wood we’re proud to provide!
So, what makes our wood so good? It’s the extra time and resources we devote to the manufacturing process.
Perfect firewood starts with purchasing wood from trusted harvesters in the tri-state area. We then split the wood ourselves and discard substandard pieces by hand. Finally, we heat and kiln-dry the remaining wood on our seven state-of-the-art dry kilns.

The wood for our mulch also comes from the best harvesters in the region. We make the mulch on-site under strict quality supervision. As a result, the organic ground covers come out ideal for stopping weeds, looking great and feeding the soil!
